Tories launch 'right to move'

Millions of council tenants would be given a new 'right to move' under radical Tory plans being unveiled today.

The move would be a dramatic extension of Margaret Thatcher's iconic 'right to buy' policy 30 years ago.

The Tories' plan would allow people to move from deprived areas such as Newham council estate in Canning Town, east London, above

Once the local council or housing association has sold it, the proceeds would be used to buy another home of the tenants' choice - anywhere in England.
