Environmental and Energy Sustainability
Environmental and energy sustainability is absolutely vital for the strength of the UK economy and the well-being and living standards of UK citizens. The inefficiency of the current system in terms of the transfer, production and reuse of energy and waste are absolutely vital areas to ensure the long-term resilience of the UK’s economy. Vital too is the need to ensure that planning and infrastructure meets the long-term requirements of local areas in terms of dealing with natural disasters and the effects of the use of natural resources. Localis believes that local government has a vital role to play in addressing these questions, and that localism can be the cure for many of the challenges that lie ahead.
